SPECIAL NOTICE FOR PARENTS WITH CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 13

At Nielsen, we are committed to safeguarding all of the information we collect and to helping our panel members learn how to exercise control over their personal information while exploring the Internet. Because you have children below the age of 13, we are asking for your consent to collect and use their personal information as members of our Internet research panel as more fully described below.

What information do we collect?
During the panel registration process or as part of a Nielsen online research survey, we request certain information, such as name, mailing address, email address, date of birth, sex, occupation, level of education, and annual income, about you and other members of your household. Once you have registered to join the panel and our panel software has been installed on your computer, we will automatically collect a broad range of other information, including personally identifiable information, from you and all others in your household because our software allows us to comprehensively track panelists' computers and panelists' activity on their computers, offline and on the Internet. For example, we collect information on the (i) type, name and use of some of the applications, files and hardware on your computer (such as Microsoft Word, Gmail, music and video files, and printers and routers), (ii) address and content of the web sites you visit, (iii) the date and duration of the web sites you visit, and (iv) details of certain online transactions, such as retail purchases and banking activity, you enter into on the Internet. We may be able to collect information contained in the title bars at the top of any "window" that is active on your computer, depending on the application. This might include information such as the browser you are using, the name and contents of the web pages you visit, the name of a file open on your computer and, when you have an email open, the subject line of the email. We do not examine or use the text of any email or instant message, nor can we read any documents open on your computer.

We also administer surveys to some panel members while they are using the Internet. These surveys request additional market research information to help us better understand Internet behavior and use. Your participation in a survey is always voluntary, and you therefore have a choice whether to provide the requested survey information.

Please note that we do not ask children under the age of 13 to participate in any particular games or other activities that require the disclosure of personal information.

Do you use cookies?
For panel management purposes, as well as to facilitate for you, once you have registered to join the panel, access to the "Member Login" area of our website, we place cookies on your computer. We may also use cookies or a small piece of code (sometimes referred to as "1x1 clear pixel," "Web beacon" or "clear GIF") to help us gather additional information about your Internet usage, including the websites you visit, the advertisements delivered to your computer and the number of times these advertisements are seen. Additionally, we may allow our panel recruitment partners to use Web beacons and cookies on our registration pages solely for payment verification purposes. A cookie is a small amount of data, which often includes an anonymous unique identifier, that is sent to your browser from a web site's computers and stored on your computer's hard drive. You can set your browser to reject cookies by following the browser help file directions. However, if your browser is set to reject cookies or you delete cookies, you may not be able to use some features of certain web sites, but you will still be able to remain a member of our panel. You can also delete individual cookies or all cookies on your computer by following the browser help file directions.
